Just wanted to share some thoughts before bed. I have been thinking about forgiveness for others a lot lately, and I just wanted to share a little bit about it. Forgiveness is so much easier than being angry. I hate being mad and bitter, because when I’m upset my soul isn’t at rest. Matthew 11:27-29 comes to mind:
28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
Fretting about a wrong suffered just brings suffering. But thanks to Jesus there’s a better way, one that will give your soul rest:
38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’ 39 But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. 40 And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well. 41 If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles.
5 Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
Meek means: quiet, gentle, and easily imposed on; submissive.
Resisting evil people is a lot harder than simply forgiving and trusting Jesus. Meekness and just giving up the struggle against others and following Jesus is the way of peace. It works in rough times. I’m going to conclude with this, as I’m getting a little sleepy: if you find your soul in a state of fretting and unrest, just entrust yourself to God and forgive and let it go.
1 Peter 2:23
When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly.
Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret–it leads only to evil.
I hope this was encouraging. Thanks for stopping by my blog, and I wish you a merry Christmas! Love,
